The Écurie

A renovated stone stable, now a comfortable cottage with wooden floors and exposed beams. There is a private garden with secluded patio and wooden garden furniture. At the rear of the gîte garden is a 10m x 5m swimming pool.

  • A spacious lounge/dining room with TV, video and stereo system.
  • A fully equipped kitchen with gas/electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
  • A double bedroom on the ground floor.
  • A shower room with W.C. and wash basin.
  • Upstairs is a large double bedroom with a four-poster bed.
  • Full central heating for all year round comfort.
  • The main house has a large drive for off road parking.

The swimming pool is situated in a private landscaped leisure area with a terrace, solar shower, sun loungers, table, chairs and sun umbrella.

In the centre of Paizay-le-Tort an ancient Roman church overlooks the valley, and across the road is the local bar/restaurant with friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. Although a bit of a hike up the hill from La Groie, it is within walking distance.

Walking and cycling are recommended as an excellent way to explore the surrounding villages and countryside of wooded valleys and fields planted with grapevines, sunflowers, maize and wheat. We can provide a couple of bicycles for use during your stay with us.

A mobile baker delivers fresh bread and croissants daily. Meat and fish are delivered once a week.
